J. Michael Greene

 

     Judge Greene is a native of the Americus area having grown up in Preston and Americus.  His family has lived in Sumter County since the 1830s and traces its roots back to William Douglass McKay the first City Marshall of Americus in 1856.

 

     Judge Greene attended Georgia Southwestern State University graduating in 1979 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.  After Georgia Southwestern State University, he  attended the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady School of Journalism where he earned a Master's Degree in Journalism.  After graduating from the University of Georgia, he attended law school at Georgia State University where he earned his Jurist Doctorate (or law degree). 

 

     Currently, Judge Greene is active in the Boy Scouts of America serving on the Executive Board.  He is an Eagle Scout (1974) as are both of his sons.  Additionally, he serves on a variety of Boards including the Board of Trustees of the GSW Foundation.  Judge Greene has been married to Kathy Phillips Greene of Atlanta since 1981.  Together they have two sons.  The family attends Central Baptist Church where Judge Greene is an ordained deacon.
