REQUESTING A CONTINUANCE OF YOUR CASE

Each person is generally granted one continuance of the first appearance or plea date without cause by calling the Clerk and making arrangements for a reset date.   In all but the most extreme emergencies you must call in advance of your court date and advise the court you can not attend.

Additional continuances or continuances from a contested day or trial day require the judge's permission.

If you do not appear in court on the date on your ticket one of two things will happen.  If your ticket is for a traffic offense then the State of Georgia will automatically suspend your drivers license.  If your ticket is not for a traffic offense then a warrant (known as a bench warrant) will be immediately issued for your arrest and you will be required to post a bond before you are released.
